The Diocese of Wiawso

The Diocese of Wiawso in western Ghana is our link diocese, and we value very much the good relations we enjoy with the Right Reverend Abraham Ackah, the Bishop of Wiawso, and with his priests and people. There is much we can do to support and learn from each other. The diocese was founded in 2004, very much as a missionary diocese, and it is in a very poor part of the country, with few natural resources and poor transport links with the rest of the country.

In July 2009 Father Christopher Cook, our Parish Priest, was appointed a Canon Commissary for the Diocese of Wiawso, and the Bishop of Wiawso visited the parish in May 2010, celebrating the High Mass on the Patronal Festival of St Pancras, our secondary Patron. In July 2010 Father Christopher travelled to Wiawso, in the course of several days visiting most of the parishes in the diocese. On 24th July he was installed in his canonry by the Dean of Wiawso, in the presence of the Bishop.
