Parish Diary of Events


Saturday 12th July: Summer Buffet Lunch.

 Sunday 17th August: The Assumption of Our Lady (transferred  from 15th)

          10am: Parish Mass and Procession. Annual Servers’ Lunch. 


     Sunday 24th August: Parish Barbecue/Summer Party 


     Saturday 30th August: Ethiopian St Takla Haymanot Festival.

          At St Agnes’s, ca 9am to 5pm.


Saturday 6th September: Ethiopian St Takla Haymanot Festival.

      At St Agnes’s, ca 9am to 5pm. More details to follow,but the day will  include a Celebration of the Ethiopian Orthodox  Liturgy by a visiting  Ethiopian Bishop, assisted by a number of clergy. There will be a  Choir from the USA. Ethiopian refreshments will be served.  Interested non-Ethiopians welcome. Note changed date. 


Monday 22nd to Friday 26th September: Pilgrimage to Lourdes -  organised jointly by the Society of Mary and the Shrine of OLW, to

      join in the 2008  Celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the  Apparitions to St Bernadette at Lourdes. Ten Parishioners going. 


Sunday 28th September; Back to Church Sunday 


Saturday 1st November: Bishop of Beverley’s Northern Festival at York  Minster 


Saturday 8th November: Autumn/Christmas Fayre in Church Hall 


Saturday 6th November: Society of Mary (NW Ward) December  Festival of the Immaculate Conception at St Agnes’s. Solemn  Pontifical Mass starts at 12noon. For more details see poster below.  Subscription lunch. 


THE YEAR 2009 


Wednesday 21st January: St Agnes’s Day – Patronal Festival .

      Solemn Concelebrated Pontifical Mass and Procession of the Relic  at 7-30pm. Principal Celebrant and Preacher: The Right Reverend

      Martyn Jarrett. Refreshments after Mass. 


Sunday 5th  to Easter Day 12th April: Holy Week & Easter.

      Preacher: Adrian Carlton-Oakley Esq, Reader. 


Saturday 16th May: Festival of St Pancras, Secondary Patron of the  Parish. High Mass at 12noon. Bread and Soup lunch. Bar.After-lunch

      Talk on the Pulpit and Reredos. Vespers of the Dead at the graves of  the Founder of the Parish and of the first Parish Priest. 


Monday 15th to Friday 19th June: Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham


 Friday 17th to Friday 24th July: Bishop Martyn Jarrett’s Pilgrimage to  Rome. All his parishes invited to participate. 


THE YEAR 2010 


Thursday 21st January: SOLEMNITY OF ST AGNES & 125th   ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE PARISH.

      Solemn Concelebrated Pontifical Mass  and Procession of the Relic of  St Agnes at 7-30pm. 


Sunday 24th January: FEAST OF DEDICATION – 125th Anniversary of  the Consecration of the Church on St Agnes’s Day 1885. Pontifical  High Mass
